Abstract
The synergy between higher education institutions and the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) represents a strategic collaboration in strengthening Islamic family law services at the sub-district level. The student internship program serves as an implementative instrument in realizing this cooperation. This community engagement activity aims to describe the form of synergy between higher education institutions and the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) of Danau Teluk Sub-district, Jambi City, as well as its contribution to improving the quality of Islamic family law services. The study employs a descriptive-qualitative approach through observation, direct involvement in administrative services, and documentation of activities during the internship period.
The results indicate that students were actively involved in marriage administrative services, marriage and reconciliation registration, waqf administration, document archiving, and premarital guidance activities. This involvement not only strengthened students’ academic and professional competencies but also supported the effectiveness of KUA’s public services. The established synergy reflects the integration of Islamic family law theories acquired in higher education with the practical implementation of public religious services in the field. The internship program provides mutual benefits: students gain practical experience and professional character development, while KUA receives support in optimizing its service delivery. Thus, the collaboration between higher education institutions and KUA through the internship program significantly contributes to strengthening professional, accountable, and responsive Islamic family law services for the community.
